Apparently someone is taking the the works of Asimov seriously. The Center for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER) is planning to study the possible threats of biotechnology, artificial life, nanotechnology and climate change. Although, I think that last one was thrown in just to get funding.
Skynet is watching CSER, but CSER is watching Skynet! Actually this is something that I can half ass see some validity in. Look, face facts people. Humans can be brilliant at times, but very short sighted. Imagine creating an autonomous entity and making thousands of them only to find a “glitch” that makes them more human than you had hoped?
If there were to be a robot uprising, depending on our vanity and their strength….We’d be screwed. Sadly, this will just be a new excuse for war. War, War never changes.
