Mad World Radio – Disgruntled

I have to apologize, this show turned out to be more Sunday oriented than a normal Friday night freak-show that you have all come to love and know.

The weekend is kind of one big blur since we packed in so much. Actually at this current moment, I couldn’t tell you what the heck was even mentioned in this episode. That is, beyond my discontent with how my city is treating it’s residents. Oh and the knock that came to my door one evening.

I mentioned a post that I had put up concerning that knock and I wanted to make it easier for you the listener to read what I had written so below you’ll fine the post copied into this entry.

Ok, so last night I was sitting down with the family to watch a movie when a knock came at the door. I was expecting a visitor, but not the one I was greeted by. Christopher Sanders was on my porch. I am sure some of you are aware of my feelings about Mr. Sanders, but being the mature respectful individual that I do often try to be, I let the man say his peace.

He was here to try to rally support for a couple of things.
1. He wanted to talk about trying to bring charges against John Rhaesa for allegedly accepting monies from the city of Wayne to put legal notices in The Wayne Dispatch.
2. To explain to me about a petition he is looking into circulating.
3. To try and get me on his side in order to try and change the way the city is run.

He explained to me that politics make strange bedfellows and said that I wanted the same things he does. He said that my views align with his, and that we should work together in order to steer the people into the new way of thinking.

Though he echoed my concerns and dreams for this city, I can’t help but feel it was slightly disingenuous and I’ll tell you why. 1. Though Mr. Rhaesa may be doing something less than ideal. The fact remains that Sanders has aligned himself with The Eagle, The Dispatch’s comeptitor, just after losing the election. His campaign comes as nothing more than a bitter man trying to get “even” 2. The petition he is proposing isn’t going to do a heap of good in my opinion. Mainly because what it’s trying to stop seems to have already been decided on. 3. Though we share the same cause, partnering with him will lose me more than it will gain me. As I, for one, don’t really work with anybody exclusively, nor am I interested in aligning myself with someone whose character is in question. His character is questionable not just by me, but by a good number of people in this city, whose opinions I have high respect for.

At my doorstep last night, I did not see a man who had this city’s best interests in mind…solely. I do believe Mr. Sanders has a love for this city in some fashion. Though, as he claims, he is “stuck” here. No, what I saw was a man who is desperate for support, so desperate in fact that he turned to the one man that has openly and publicly called him out for his misdealings.

He asked me to think about helping him, I slept on it and I feel my answer is going to have to be no. I just don’t see it as being a smart move on my part to “get in bed” with someone with the credibility deficiency that he has. I won’t say that I am openly going to flog the man, I believe he has had enough of that. Though this post might be seen as just that.

I am a rather open and public person. I don’t hide what I think or say. It’s part of the reason people both love and hate me. If I could give one piece of advice to Mr. Sanders, it is to take some time off. Go relax and get your head together. Let go of the bitterness and hate in order to begin to heal. I wish him the best of luck in his endeavors. Maybe, given time and some serious reworking. He might have a chance at my support in the distant future. I will not shun the man completely though, I do believe he should be given a chance to redeem himself. It’s just currently his chosen tactics to do so, do not warrant my approval. Thank for your time.

In our next episode, we’ll be speaking with Michigan author Tom Sawyer about his newest book The Last Big Hit.
