So some of you may have noticed that I am no longer on Facebook. I decided to deactivate my account for a bit. I just am tired of all the whiny crap that comes across my feed. Not just from shit that I post (via comments), but in general Facebook has become a place to whine about this or that. Don’t like animal cruelty? Post pictures on facebook! Don’t like Facebook changes? Post about it on Facebook! Tired of the cause/book/movie of the week? Post about it on Facebook.
Seriously, look at your feed the next time you’re there. There are money requests, prayer requests and all sorts of other whiny ass blubbering. Then you add in the fact of people dogging you for the non whiny posts. I am all for opening up a dialog and having a discussion, but really some people just take it TOO FAR. What’s even more annoying is that they tend to get upset when someone is unapologetic about what they post. It’s my fuckin’ wall, if you don’t like it you can unsubscribe to my posts.
I guess that’s another complaint, people not taking the time to learn how to properly use their social media. Look I know facebook has made a lot of changes, but they’re fairly simple to navigate and re-learn. You don’t have to unfriend someone, you can unsubscribe or hide their feed. SIMPLE. I have done it with several friends, you just get tired of seeing the crap. So instead of making it seem like I don’t like you anymore, I’m just going to hide what you post about as to preserve our actual friendship.
Another annoying thing is EVERYONE on facbook thinks EVERY post is about them. Why is this? Because most people have become a bunch of passive aggressive nancies. Look, if this post is about you I’d say your name. That’s right, I got the balls to call people out directly and not just hide behind some vague post. Granted I have been vague before, but it was to serve the purpose of safety. i.e. what happened with my mother.
Get over yourselves, seriously.
I mostly use my Facebook to promote my shows/business. I am offensive, I am lewd, crude and socially unacceptable. My business is often an extension of me, so it stands to reason that it too is offensive, lewd, crude and socially unacceptable at times. We are one, we are the borg….ok not quite, but you get the fuckin’ point.
I am currently mulling over whether or not I should return to the collective or just walk away freely and never look back. I did it with myspace, I jumped ship when it became a whinery and I have no qualms about doing it to Zuckerberg’s vineyard too.
