Back before the newest Muppet flick came out, after hearing it’s premise I had said that I would love to see them bring the Muppets back to tv. I was hopeful for a revival of the Muppet Show or Muppets Tonight (same thing I know).
It seems I was right, well sort of. BBC One is in talks with The Jim Henson Company to bring a brand new muppet style show to the airwaves. Notice I said “muppet style”? The show will be called No Strings Attached and will feature a brand new cast of puppets. (I am betting it’s going to be the Moopets)
In No Strings Attached (working title), a brand new cast of puppet characters will invite two celebrity guests to enter their world. The guests will go head to head in a series of unique games run by the cast of characters and take part in a variety of sketches, in what will be a warm, cheeky, family affair fuelled by a healthy dose of off-the-wall, madcap fun.
It’s not quite what I was hoping for, but it’s a case of “I’ll take what I can get”. I still am hopeful that the gang comes back to tv for new shows, but I think it’s a piper dream and I will have to settle for the old episodes on DVD.
